Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Overnight Detox Oil
This is Caudalie’s new oil product. It’s a blend of 8 omega rich oils – grape seed is the leading one. I’m using this oil to strengthen my barrier and infuse my skin with Caudalie’s signature grape polyphenols (powerful antioxidants). This is a good oil for night time barrier repair for normal or dry skin types.
As for texture, it feels a bit sticky on my skin. It’s not a light oil that absorbs right into skin. The smell is distinctive (not crazy about it), very different from the smell of the C15 serum and Vinoperfect Radiance Serum (both of which I like).
Be aware it has some botanical ingredients that can be sensitizing: lavendar, citrus oils, and geraniol (from geranium) cause allergies in some people. If you have very sensitive or reactive skin, this oil is likely not right for you. If you still want to try it, patch test it on your wrist first.
Hi! I just got this product and so far I’m loving it, but I’m not really sure where in my nightly routine to incorporate it. At the end but right before moisturizer? LIke do I need to use it in place of other serums like Lancer Lift Serum or Paula’s Choice Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum? Or you can use more than one at a time?
Hi Mandi! These are great questions, and to answer it, I will have to give you a detailed explanation because it’s not straightforward. This particular oil should go on last, to seal in moisture. In general, oils should be applied after a water-based product to seal in moisture. If you apply a water-based product over oil, it won’t penetrate well. (Oil and water don’t mix.) I explain this in more detail here: Layering Products.
Toners and serums are water-based. Many moisturizers are water-based (oil-free ones are). Thick, balm-like moisturizers are oil-based. And then there are silicone-based moisturizers, another category altogether (common in sensitive skin products).
You asked whether your oil should go before or after the moisturizer. This oil can be used instead of moisturizer, unless you’re very dry and need more moisturization. If you need both, the answer depends on your moisturizer.
If your moisturizer is silicone-based (there is a large amount of silicone ingredients), then that moisturizer should go on last. Silicones form a protective film over skin. A thick silicone layer doesn’t let things in or out. This kind of cream will generally be dry and ointment-like. Silicone ingredients have names ending in “methicone” or “siloxane,” e.g. dimethicone, cyclomethicone, cyclopentasiloxane.
If it is not silicone-based, then you can apply your oil over the moisturizer.
You also asked whether a serum is necessary. You can use a serum with this oil, if it doesn’t irritate your skin or make you break out. Or you can skip it. It depends on:
– whether your skin can tolerate an additional layer of product,
– what’s in the serum vs oil, and
– how much anti-aging you want to do for your skin.
This Caudalie oil is primarily providing essential fatty acids that strengthen your barrier. But since the oils are plant-based, they also have some antioxidant benefits.
Your Lancer serum is designed to do something different (lift & firm). And the PC serum has a good mix of age-fighting ingredients (antioxidants, peptides, barrier repair ingredients). I don’t see any issue using the Lancer or PC serum with this oil.
Assuming you do not have sensitive/reactive skin and can tolerate all these layers, I would do this:
1.) PC serum all over face
2.) Lancer serum on areas of the face that needs lifting or firming, e.g. jowls, upper eyelids, nasolabial folds, the lines that form the eleven’s between your eyebrows
3.) Moisturizer (if you need this extra moisture)
4.) Caudalie Oil.
You might find that with a serum, you don’t need the moisturizer with the oil. Another option – alternate the moisturizer and oil. One night use the oil, the next night use the moisturizer.

Hi Rita! I just got this last week and started using it and love it. I hate the smell though. I was gonna do a YouTube review on it and was googling to see if there were any reviews on this- and came across your site!! I saw how you were so knowledgeable and answered people’s questions on this product, so I’m thinking of linking your site if people have more questions on it. What do you think?
Hi Sarah! Sounds great, thank you for thinking of me. Sure, feel free to link here from YT!
