If you get new products, try only one at a time. It’ll save you a lot of grief in case things go wrong!

I’ve been hearing a lot about bad skin reactions from friends, and seeing people post about their bad experiences. And there’s one thing in common:

1. Trying on too many new products at once. For example, changing your routine drastically with new products.

2. Trying on new products too frequently. For example, using different samples every night. This is very common among beauty junkies (myself included!).

Skin can’t handle change too often. It exists in a state of balance (the technical term is homeostasis). If you disturb its balance, you’re more likely to have problems.

Whenever you buy (or receive) new products, it’s tempting to try them all at once. But if you have skin that breaks out easily, or is sensitive, be careful. Introduce a new product one at a time.

When you do this, you allow skin time to adjust. And if you get a bad reaction, you’ll know the source right away. If you try on more than one, you’ll have a hard time figuring out what caused the bad reaction. It’ll take you a lot more time to figure it out.

Try your new product for a few days before you add another new product. A bad reaction will usually be obvious within 24-48 hours, but sometimes it may not surface for a few days, or even weeks.
