Treating my skin to red light therapy. This is a red LED lamp on my cheek. Red light does many good things for skin, like stimulating collagen production and cellular energy. It’s also great for reducing redness and inflammation (works immediately!)
I treated the whole face but concentrated on the nasolabial folds, lower cheeks (where sagging occurs later), and forehead (over the horizontal expression lines and eleven’s).
This LED lamp in my hand is a professional tool, part of the Hydrafacial machine pictured here. Clients can choose light therapy as an add-on to a facial treatment in my clinic. Or I use it on skin that is very inflamed.
On the machine are 4 lamps – the left two lamps are blue lights. The right two are red lights.
Blue light kills bacteria and is good for treating acne or clogged pores.
Light therapy is primarily offered in medical spas and medical offices. You can buy an at-home LED tool made for consumers, but unfortunately they are very pricey (typically over $250 USD). I wish they didn’t cost so much, but hopefully the cost of skincare devices will come down in the future.
