After a long day in the sun yesterday, my skin needed something needed something simple, calming, and restorative. This was my after sun skincare routine:
1. Cleansing Balm – to remove sunscreen, makeup, pollution, and sebum. A must if outside all day! Darphin Aromatic Cleansing Balm
2. Cleanser – a milky cleanser for the 2nd step of my Double Cleanse, for a thorough clean. This one is very soothing. Darphin Intral Cleansing Milk
3. Toner – A calming, hydrating toner with anti-inflammatory ingredients. Being in the sun causes chronic inflammation. My skin felt a bit sensitive, so I knew it needed something to target inflammation. Darphin Intral Toner
4. Serum – A light serum with anti-inflammatory ingredients. Dermalogica Ultracalming Serum Concentrate
5. Face Oil – To moisturize my skin, I chose a heavy oil that is rich in Vitamin C and omega fatty acids. Vitamin C to replenish my antioxidant reserves (the sun depletes it!). Fatty aids to nourish the lipid barrier. Important to do when you are exposed to sun b/c the sun dries out skin. Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil
6. Eye Serum – I use this eye gel as an eye serum underneath an eye cream. It is SO hydrating. And one of the few eye products that won’t sting my eyes if they are irritated (they were due to allergies). One of my favorite products, I am just so disappointed that it has recently been discontinued. HydrafacialMD ETX Age-Refining Eye Gel
7. Eye Cream – A silicone-based eye cream with age-fighting ingredients. I chose a cream with a silicone base because it doesn’t irritate eyes. (p.s. – Silicones are often thought to be bad, but this is a myth. They are unreactive and harmless.) Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Firm
