Tip 3 – Cleansing Wipes
A cleansing wipe is handy for times during the day when your skin feels very dirty but you can’t wash your face because you’re nowhere near a bathroom. Or you’re not in the mood to cleanse.
I remember a trip to Angkor, Cambodia as if it were yesterday. One of the best trips of my life but also the most humid, miserable skin experience of my life. It was SO hot and humid, I was sweating the entire time. DRENCHED. Even wearing tank tops and short shorts didn’t keep me cool. I was touring the ruins, and there was no air conditioning anywhere. At that time, none of the shops around “town” had AC. The only time I felt cool air was in my hotel at night.
All that sweating made me crazy. (I hate sweating.) I kept fanning myself non-stop and drinking water and wiping my face. But the sweating just would not stop. Needless to say, my skin felt totally gross.
Well, a few cleansing wipes would’ve been very handy then. Too bad I didn’t have any. (I was completely unprepared for the trip.) Now, I never travel without a few.
Tip 4 – Exfoliating Pads/Wipes
Exfoliating pads or wipes are great for keeping pores clear without having to lug around a full size container of exfoliant.
After wiping, you can just toss the pad.
Look for acids such as salicylic acid, lactic acid, glycolic acid, and mandelic acid.
If you have a sample size of a scrub, that’s handy too. A scrub will get rid of dead skin cell build-up, especially if you’ve been out in the sun for a while. Scrubs feel good in humid weather because they make you feel like you’ve gotten a good clean.
Tip 5 – Mud or Cucumber Masks
Clay or mud masks are helpful if you have oily skin or acne-prone skin. Clay absorbs oil.
Cucumber masks are soothing if your skin is sensitive to the sun, or it has been exposed to sun for too long.
Tip 6 – Blotting Papers or Tissues
If you have oily skin, you may already be blotting throughout the day. But if you’re not normally oily, and you’re going somewhere humid, blotting papers come in handy for the same reasons I mentioned in Tip 3 (sweating!).
Blotting papers can get expensive. So if you don’t have any, just carry a pack of tissues. Tissues are better than nothing.
Rita thanks again for these amazing tips. I used every single one of them when packing and I will def keep you posted on how it all went. I woke up this morning with a huge pimple on my cheek- which is so odd since I haven’t had one in forever!! That just gives me all the more incentive to take better car of my skin when I am away! thanks Rita:) xoxo
Surleen, I am so glad to hear that you used every tip! Thank you very much for telling me. The pimple could be due to pre-travel stress from planning, which is inevitable 🙂 Just a temporary nuisance. Keep up all your great efforts on taking care of your skin. Happy and safe travels!
