Toners that do more than hydrate..
When it’s hot & humid, I want a light “load” on my skin. This is when I turn to ANTI-AGING TONERS packed with antioxidants, peptides, and other age-fighting ingredients.
With a fully loaded toner, you can skip the serum or moisturizer and go straight to sunscreen if it’s very humid or you have oily skin. A toner feels much lighter but still hydrates.
Here are some that I am currently using:
1. Cosmedix Benefit Balance Antioxidant Prep
2. Bioelements Power Peptide Age-Fighting Facial Toner
3. Circadia Licorice & Bearberry Brightening Mist
All of these are sprays. So they can be used to freshen up your skin during the day.
A heads-up: the Bioelements bottle weighs like a brick and is hard to pump. I have transferred mine to a smaller spray bottle.

Hi Rita,
Which of these would you recommend for sensitive skin? thanks!
-Surleen
Hi Surleen,
These toners are not specifically designed for sensitive skin, but they can be used on sensitive skin, unless your skin is very reactive to products or you have an allergy to a specific ingredient in these products.
Each of these toners has some anti-inflammatory ingredients that soothe skin. But the tricky thing about skincare is that a single botanically derived ingredient can irritate skin, and most skincare products today contain at least a few. Also, it’s hard to know which one is the culprit when there is a blend of them.
The Cosmedix would be a good choice for everyday antioxidant protection. It also has the most soothing ingredients of the three. So if your highest priority is soothing skin, this is the best choice.
If you have hyperpigmentation, the Circadia would be the best choice. If you have wrinkles, I’d suggest the Bioelements toner for its peptide content.
Rita,
This is such a brilliant post!! I love the idea of getting all my anti aging benefits in a light weight formula when it’s hot out!! Even if your in a rush it just makes so much sense to be able to get those good ingredients on your face. I’ve been struggling exactly with this idea especially when I decide to exercise outside and need that sunscreen but don’t want to load up my face with two or three creams, serums etc…
Thanks for the great idea, now I just need to research which one?????
Regards,
Sue
Hello Sue! Thank you for sharing your own experience. I’m glad to know you find this tip helpful. In hot, humid weather, when my skin is sweating buckets, the last thing I want on my face is a lot of product too 🙂
Hope you find an anti-aging toner that works great on you!
Hola Rita: I started using Dermalogica products after reading your blog (which my sister and I ❤️) and I love the oil cleanser. I have to be careful since I use prescription products for adult acne (at 39 I still it) I also live in southwest Florida ☀️ And it’s hot hot hot. Should I try the Demalogica toner as well?
Thank you for all the great post
Elaine
Hola Elaine! Thank you writing to tell me about your experience with Precleanse. Hooray! I’m happy to hear you like it 🙂 It’s great for deep cleansing acne-prone skin.
Yes, it’s worth trying a Dermalogica toner. I would recommend Multi-Active Toner. It works well on any skin type, and is a great way to hydrate your skin, especially in hot Florida summer weather ;). With this toner, you will need less moisturizer (if any). You can apply a sunscreen right after this toner.
