Products for PEELING or FLAKING SKIN.
The skin on my forehead was peeling a little yesterday. The culprit? Over-exfoliation. I used an exfoliating wipe that was too strong for my skin. Good thing it only caused some minor peeling and nothing more.
Here’s what I did last night:
1. CLEANSING BALM – I chose a rich, creamy, nourishing cleansing balm that feels soft and comforting when massaged into skin.
Colleen Rothschild Radiant Cleansing Balm
2. SOFT BRUSH – To help my skin shed the flakes faster, I brushed the flaky area lightly with a milky cleanser. An alternative would be to use a gentle scrub with small particles and no AHA’s or enzymes. The idea is to physically exfoliate. The last thing you want to do is chemically exfoliate when your skin is over-processed.
Shiseido Brush
3. FACE OIL – Damaged skin needs lipids to replace the lipids that are lost from over-exfoliation. Best and fastest way to do this is with an oil. I chose a light oil without too many botanical ingredients (to minimize the chance for irritation). With plant ingredients, you never know how your skin will react when it’s not in good health.
Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil is rich in omega fatty acids and is reparative (Japanese seaweed).
4. SOOTHING CREAM (MOISTURIZER) – I added an additional layer of nourishment over the oil because my skin needed the moisture. I chose this cream because it has COLLOIDAL OATMEAL, an excellent anti-inflammatory and soothing ingredient, and it’s light enough to layer over an oil.
SteamCream (for face or body)
That was it. 4 products. Very simple.
