UK cleansing balms are winning me over. Hm, I see an interesting pattern developing!
Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm and Sarah Chapman Skinesis Ultimate Cleanse are tied neck & neck for first place. Emma Hardie has a slight edge over Sarah Chapman, in terms of slip (how well the oil melts and slides over skin). But Sarah Chapman’s bottle pump packaging is more convenient (no dipping!). Both are great in terms of how easily they spread, emulsify, and rinse off.
As you can see here, Emma Hardie’s balm comes with a muslin cloth. It’s still wrapped in tissue because I neither like cloths nor need it for this balm. It emulsifies and rinses off so well, you really don’t need the cloth for removal. Especially if you go onto a second cleanser for a Double Cleanse.
My next favorite would be The Organic Pharmacy Carrot Butter Cleanser. I love how this makes my skin look clear and bright. But it is not the kind of balm that emulsifies right away upon contact with water. You need a cloth or sponge to remove this one thoroughly, and it leaves your hands oily. This is my balm for “very dry or chafed skin” days.
Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser – not bad. I would like it more if it weren’t for the scent (too strong for me). I use only in the winter because it’s rich. If you’re looking for that “squeaky clean” feeling after rinsing, this is not it. It leaves behind a bit of a residue (good for dry skin). I like that it comes in a tube, which is great for travel.
