Did you know.. skin loses about 13 oz (0.4 liter) of water each day?
Your body loses about 2-3 liters of water (through the kidneys, sweating, breathing, and your skin). That’s a lot of water!
With winter approaching, the air is getting drier. This means you’ll lose even more water in heated rooms and when it’s windy outside.
You can keep your skin hydrated in various ways. Besides drinking water, here are 5 easy ones.
HYDRATION TIPS
1.) Eat fruits & veggies – They’re hidden sources of water. Easiest way in my book! 🙂
2.) Wear higher SPF sunscreen when you’re outdoors – especially if you’re skiing, playing in the snow, or it’s windy. Wind is very damaging to skin. Minimum SPF 30. If you’re dry, choose a heavier sunscreen, which will provide emollience.
3.) Use a hydrating toner/essence/serum – Look for water-binding ingredients, such as Sodium Hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid), Glycerin, Sodium PCA, Honey, and Urea. You should apply it after cleansing and before you moisturize.
4.) Moisturize your skin AM & PM – Choose a lipid-rich moisturizer or oil if you have dry or flaky skin.
5.) Re-apply skincare products if your skin is dry or irritated – There’s no rule saying you can only use skincare in the AM or PM. Use it when you need it!
