For Moisture Cravers – MEG 21 Eye Treatment & Moisturizing Toner

I am currently using two products that my dehydrated skin is appreciating - the Meg 21 Eye Treatment and Meg 21 Moisturizing Toner. If you are craving moisture like my skin does but have a hard time finding products that keep your skin moist, you might find these products helpful. Meg 21 Eye Treatment I love discovering good eye creams, and it isn't often that I come across one that I love. Here's one that just made my list. Meg 21's Eye Treatment fulfills two important criteria. First, it moisturizes the eye area for a long [...]

Shine-Free Isn’t Natural Or Healthy – Why Your Skin Needs Sebum (Oil)

Is your skin always shiny or does it shine later in the the day? If you answered yes, don't feel bad! It's perfectly natural and healthy to have some shine on your face. I understand the desire to be shine-free or less shiny, especially if you have oily skin. But in today's post, I want to reassure you that oil is not a bad thing. Some surface oil, which is known as sebum, is critically necessary for your skin. Why You Need Sebum While I understand being very shiny all over isn't exactly desirable, trying to achieve a shine-free [...]

Can Eye Cream Make Skin More Dry?

Can eye cream make skin more dry? A friend asked me this question recently. She started using a new eye cream that made the skin around her eyes dry, and she didn't understand why it would do that instead of moisturizing it. It's a very good question, and a good opportunity for me to elaborate on some important concepts in skincare. The answer is unfortunately yes. It is possible for an eye product to leave the skin feeling more dry. And not just eye creams. Serums and moisturizers too. It depends on two things. The climate and the ingredients in the product. [...]

Skin Tip: Small Spray Bottles Are Good For Toner

Can you guess what's in these bottles? Toners! This is what I do to save counter space. I transfer them to small spray bottles like these from‪ ‎The Container Store‬, which are about $1 each. Toner bottles can be heavy or bulky. These mini bottles are made of plastic, so much lighter. They also fit in my hand better. The spray nozzle on these bottles is quite good - for me, just the right amount of force and arc (area it covers). Just 3 sprays needed for the whole face - 1 spray on each cheek, 1 on the forehead. Then I [...]

Indie Lee Calendula Eye Balm – A Winter Skin Savior

My newest eye cream purchase is a winner. I am in love with this Indie Lee Calendula Eye Balm. It's perfect for this cold, dry weather. ❄⛄ When ordering this, I was half expecting a classic balm texture (thick and hard) because of the word "balm" in its name. But this balm is the opposite. It has such a soft, buttery texture. As soon as it touches skin, it melts right in. I love that! Applying this is so easy. No accidental pulling of skin is possible with a texture like this. All I have to do is place the balm onto [...]

Blizzard Juice – Antioxidize Your Skin More In Snowy Conditions

Time to take a break from shoveling. The blizzard has dumped 24 inches of snow here. ⛄ I just made this carrot juice to re-antioxidize. Isn't it a beautiful color? Blizzard Juice ingredients: carrots, tomato, kiwi, orange, apple, celery, ginger. Making fresh juice is a great way to clean out the fridge, which is partly why I made this. A pile of carrots has been sitting too long in the fridge. I will admit, it is more tempting to reach for hot cocoa in weather like this. But I have already stocked up on winter comfort food and some junk food for [...]

My New Korean Skincare Products – A Sulwhasoo Gel Toner, Su:m 37 Solid Cleansing Stick, and Sherbert Cleansing Balm

My first new products of the new year - I've started using 3 Korean skincare products - a Sulwhasoo gel toner and two Su:m 37 cleansers. Thought I would share my thoughts on them because each one has something unique. Sulwhasoo Essential Balancing Water It's been a while since I purchased Korean skincare, just to underscore that this product is special to me. The Sulwhasoo balancing water is a toner - the kind that hydrates. I absolutely love the scent. It's a beautiful, mild Asian herbal scent. If you've been following me for a while, then you know that [...]

The MICRO Treatments – A Quick Cheat Sheet On What They Do

Do you know what these MICRO treatments do? They all make skin look younger, but the only thing they have in common is the word micro (meaning small). Each does a different thing for skin. Here's a cheat sheet: 1. micro-CURRENT - sends an electric current to your skin. For toning / firming / tightening/ lifting skin. (More on Microcurrent here.) 2. micro-DERMABRASION - polishes skin with crystals. For removing dead skin (a lot), making skin smoother, and improving uneven skin color or unwanted spots. 3. micro-NEEDLING - pricks your skin with small needles. This creates an artificial "wound" response [...]

A resolution that is actually achievable. Not just for some people but for everyone. So, what is it? Achieving HEALTHY SKIN!  You hear this all the time. Skin professionals and skin care companies love to throw it around and use [...]
