Nuface Mini
This is a handheld microcurrent device. I bought this because I am obsessed with my nasolabial folds! I will be using this on my jowl area. It’s more for prevention against deepening of the nasolabial folds and sagging.
Sagging is pretty hard to correct with topical skincare products. I don’t know if this will make a meaningful difference. But the concept is interesting to me, and I think it’s worth a try.
Few comments about this device:
1. A handheld microcurrent device does not contract muscles, so it will do less than a professional microcurrent treatment. Performing microcurrent successfully requires knowledge of all the muscles in the face (there are 32!). To get real re-programming of muscle fibers, the current must be placed in precise muscle positions. However, this device can help with toning and improving the complexion.
2. PRICE – This Mini is $199 USD. The Trinity (full size) is $325 USD. These devices don’t come cheap. BUT, the prices are coming down. For instance, the Mini is new. Antiaging beauty devices are making their way into the consumer market, and they are a big growth area. You will be seeing much more in the future. Technology has finally arrived in beauty!
3. GEL PRIMER – applied to skin beforehand. It helps conduct the current.
4. NASOLABIAL FOLDS – The crease that runs from each side of the nose to the corners of the mouth. Deepens with age. Also called nasal labial lines, laugh lines, or smile lines.
5. In 1-2 months, I’ll write a post on the blog about my results.

Are you satisfied with the results of this device?
Hi Audrey,
To be honest, I don’t use this device often, and it’s not something that provides visible, immediate results. Its benefits are long-term. Here are my thoughts on it, and how I compare it with my Lightstim LED device.
I find it time-consuming because you need to apply a gel medium onto skin in order to use it, and skin need to be clean. And then after you’re done, the gel needs to be washed off before you proceed with the rest of the routine. So, it’s a “process” for me, something that I need to allow time for.
Also, microcurrent is tricky to use correctly. For good results, the current needs to be applied on the correct muscle positions, and in the right directions.
The Nuface mini is not the ideal size for my face. I have a small face and find this device too big to manipulate easily around my face. The two balls are too big to fit my cheek area comfortably. I would actually prefer a single ball rather than two balls. It would be easier to reach all the spots.
I’m a much bigger fan of LED light therapy for two reasons. First, you see change right away (a reduction in redness and inflammation). And longer-term, it helps rejuvenate skin. Second, it’s more convenient. No gel medium required. You can pick up a LED device and put it on your skin anytime. It can be applied on clean, naked skin or on skin that has serum or mask (the light enhances penetration).
This second reason is why I use it much more often. In fact, I love using LED when I am watching TV or reading. It’s a device that you can use while doing something else 🙂
I hope this helps you!
