Hypopigmentation
Hypopigmentation is a lack of pigmentation. It is the opposite of hyperpigmentation, which is an excess of pigmentation.
Hypopigmentation is a skin disorder. It can also be a potential unwanted side effect of certain cosmetic procedures or ingredients.

Vitiligo
Vitiligo is characterized by patches of skin that are completely devoid of pigment.
Vitiligo can happen to anyone (all races) and can start at any age.
It is thought to be caused by an autoimmune disorder that affects about 1-2% of the population.
Vitiligo can get better or worse with time.
Albinisim
Albinisim is a complete absence of pigmentation.
People with it are unable to produce melanin. Consequently, they have extremely fair skin and hair, and pink eyes.
Albinism is a rare genetic disorder that affects all races. In the U.S., about one in 17,000 people have it.
