This week is all about vitamins. I’ll be going over the Top 3 you need in your skin care routine: Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Vitamin A.

Today’s topic is Vitamin C. After sunscreen, Vitamin C in skin care products is Priority #2. It should be your new best friend!

Remember what I said back in the Sun Protection Guide? If you want a simple skin care routine, or have a limited budget for skin care products, focus on two things: SUNSCREEN and VITAMIN C. Both will go a long way in delaying the signs of aging.

Vitamin C is such a talented vitamin. Number one, it’s great at fighting free radicals. Even better, it boosts your collagen levels. (And we need all that extra boosting when we get older, because we produce less with age.) Finally, if you have spots or discoloration, it can help lighten them.

Top 3 Benefits of Vitamin C

1. Stops Free Radicals

2. Increases Collagen

3. Reduces Pigmentation

The best way to incorporate Vitamin C is to use a Vitamin C serum. Next best is to use a moisturizer with Vitamin C in it. The serum is better because it give you a more concentrated amount of Vitamin C. But the downside is that it’s also more expensive. For those of you with sensitive, reactive, or thin skin, a serum may be too potent for you, and you should opt for a moisturizer instead.

Don’t worry if you don’t or can’t use a serum – a moisturizer with Vitamin C is perfectly all right! It’s better to get some Vitamin C than none at all.

Also make sure you eat fruits and vegetables 🙂 It’s important to get Vitamin C from the diet. The most basic reason is that our bodies don’t make it. Vitamin C can only come from food.  Also, Vitamin C doesn’t last long, so you have to replenish your reserves throughout the day.

My new article on Vitamin C gives you an overview on what it does, what ingredients to look for, and how to use. Plus tips and warnings. I’ve adopted a new format to make it easier for you to get the main points quickly. So do check it out!
