Aren’t these shiny links pretty? They caught my eye right away. I thought, hmm, might be nice on my neck. But definitely not nice in my skin.

Links like this are known as cross links. They make skin sag. Cross links are two things attached together, like sugar with collagen.

I introduced cross linking in my sugar post. But here I want to point out that cross-linking is caused by other things too. UV, smoke, heavy metals, and peroxides for example. They have something in common. Care to guess?

They generate free radicals. And free radicals promote cross linking. This is another good reason to integrate antioxidants into your skin care routine.
