There’s no such thing as “chemical-free.” One of my pet peeves is seeing skin care products described as “chemical-free” or containing “no chemicals.” Because it makes no sense at all.
Everything on this planet is made of chemicals, except for only 2 things: LIGHT and ELECTRICITY.
Every skin care product is made of chemicals, everything we eat is made of chemicals, the air we breathe is made of chemicals (oxygen and nitrogen mostly), our body is made of chemicals.
Call me anal, but I believe it’s important we use the right language. Otherwise we can get misled by marketing.
Chemicals used in cosmetics can come from natural sources (processed straight from a plant) or be created synthetically in a lab. Quite often, a product has both kinds. Some ingredients come in both forms. Vitamin C for example.
Naturally-derived is not necessarily better than synthetic. And vice versa. It depends on the ingredient in question, and the way it was processed (condition of the plant, part of the plant, extraction method). There are instances when the lab version is far more stable than the natural version.
