Is your skin feeling dry or looking limp, deflated? One reason may be a lack of fat in your skin.

Omega fatty acids are *essential* nutrients – they’re required for many body functions. They also nourish skin.

The outer layer of skin is partly made of fat (lipids is the correct term). The skin’s ‘lipid barrier’ is designed to protect you – from everything! It also traps moisture so you don’t dry out. Water evaporates from skin no matter what, but the lipid barrier slows it down.

When the skin’s lipid barrier is damaged, all kinds of problems can happen (dry, cracked skin, rashes, breakouts, you name it). So it’s important to keep it strong.

Skin with a strong barrier is also more moist, plump, soft, and resistant (fewer problems). It just looks a lot better!

You can make it strong 3 ways:

1⃣ Eat omega-rich foods.

2⃣ Apply omega-rich skin care products to your skin. Face oils made from plant oils are excellent. So are moisturizers with plant oils.

3⃣ Take omega-3 fish oil supplements. (I do and it makes a noticeable difference for me.) ✏️

The Omega-3 fats are one group of omega fats. And there are 3 kinds of Omega-3: EPA, DHA, ALA. (These are abbreviations for longer names.)

EPA and DHA are found primarily in FATTY FISH (they have a lot of oil). Good sources are: Salmon, Sardines, Mackerel, Trout, Anchovies, Herring.
